Virginia authorities investigate fatal dog attack on 4-year-old boy

A four-year-old boy, identified as Garcia Welch, died following a fatal attack by an American Bully dog in Louisa County, Virginia. The incident occurred on October 18 near Washington, D.C.

According to the Louisa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a dog attacking a small child. Upon arrival, officers found the child with severe injuries while the animal was still attacking. To stop the assault, law enforcement officials were forced to shoot and kill the dog, which was described as a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier and bulldog.

Welch was emergency transported via helicopter to a nearby hospital but passed away shortly after arrival. The child had recently started preschool, and the community has expressed significant grief. A GoFundMe campaign has been established by family members to assist with funeral costs and support the boy's mother.
