Virginia Fonseca backlash prompts Brazilian celebs Luana Piovani and Leo Dias to denounce sexism

Actress Luana Piovani reacted to the aggressive chants directed at influencer Virginia Fonseca during a Brazil national‑team friendly at the Maracanã. In Instagram stories she called the episode "bizarre, horror‑ous, aggressive and disrespectful to women," saying she was "shocked" and that such behavior was "unacceptable."

TV presenter Leo Dias defended Fonseca on Band's "Melhor da Tarde," arguing that criticism of her role as a World Cup entertainment reporter was rooted in misogyny. He highlighted that the position was not sports journalism and questioned why female presenters faced harsher scrutiny than male football players, concluding, "It's machismo!"
