Virginia Fonseca sues Léo Dias for R$ 100,000 in moral damages

Influencer Virginia Fonseca has filed a lawsuit in Goiás against journalist Léo Dias and the LeoDias Group, seeking R$ 100,000 in moral damages. The legal action follows a live broadcast in August where Dias made sexually derogatory comments regarding Fonseca's departure from Grande Rio.

Fonseca's legal team argues that the remarks were personal, vulgar, and exceeded the boundaries of journalistic criticism. While Dias issued an apology after receiving an extrajudicial notification—admitting he had “erred,” “extrapolated,” and “passed the limit”—his lawyers claim the retraction was insufficient and contradictory because it was framed conditionally with the phrase “if I exceeded myself.”

The lawsuit also references a history of conflicts, including previous instances where the journalist reportedly published information regarding the school attendance of Fonseca's daughters and made threats regarding the release of private information.
