Virginia Fonseca's WePink faces money‑laundering probe and profit doubts
São Paulo police have opened a money‑laundering investigation into Samara Martins and Thiago Stabile, business partners of influencer Virginia Fonseca and Chinese investor Chaopeng Tan in the cosmetics firm WePink. The probe links the alleged scheme to Karen Mori, known as “Japa do PCC,” whose late husband headed a major drug‑trafficking network. Investigators are examining whether drug‑money financed real‑estate, shell companies and beauty‑industry ventures, including the earlier Pink Lash brand.
Separately, former Jequiti president Lásaro do Carmo Jr. publicly questioned WePink’s claim of R$1 billion‑plus annual revenue, arguing that the company lacks a manufacturing plant, sufficient staff and logistical capacity to sustain such figures. He highlighted the reliance on third‑party manufacturers and a workforce far smaller than typical billion‑revenue firms. Virginia Fonseca has asserted that the brand generated R$1.3 billion in 2025 and plans to expand its kiosk network.
Both the criminal investigation and the public scrutiny of financial claims converge on the rapid rise of WePink and its founder.
