Virginia football prepares for season opener against NC State
The University of Virginia football team is set to open its 2026 season against NC State at Scott Stadium. The game, which has been announced as a sellout, is part of the ACC schedule.
For fans attending the game, the athletic department has implemented a new digital parking pass system. Unlike previous years, physical hanging tags will no longer be used. Attendees must access their digital permits through a mobile wallet or ticketing account, as screenshots of the passes will not be accepted for entry into VAF parking lots.
On the field, Virginia enters the matchup as a slight favorite according to betting odds. The Cavaliers' strategy is expected to focus on a run-heavy offensive approach to control the clock, while the defense will look to counter NC State quarterback CJ Bailey with varied coverage and blitz packages.
