Virginia midterm race becomes key battleground amid Iran conflict

The ongoing conflict with Iran is impacting political stability and veteran support for Donald Trump. In the key swing district of Virginia, which includes the Naval Air Station Oceana and the world's largest naval base, the upcoming midterm elections could determine which party maintains control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The district has seen a competitive tug-of-war between former Marine officers. Republican incumbent Jen Kiggans currently holds the seat, having unseated former Democratic Representative Elaine Luria in 2022. The election results in this region are viewed as a critical indicator for the remainder of Trump's term.
