Virginia mother placed on child neglect list
Karyann Parkinson, a mother of five and former behavioral specialist, has been placed on the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect list for seven years following an incident in her gated community. Parkinson, who moved from Utah to attend William and Mary Law School, was reported to authorities after her five-year-old son was seen walking alone to a community pond.
A neighbor contacted security, who subsequently notified Child Protective Services (CPS). CPS intervened and filed charges against Parkinson for neglect and endangering her child. The incident reportedly caused significant emotional distress to the child during the intervention.
