Virginia Parole Board considers release of Anthony McGaha
The Virginia Parole Board is considering the release of Anthony McGaha, a convicted criminal known as the ‘Ocean View Rapist’ who received a life sentence for breaking into homes and raping six women in Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
Former Attorney General Jason Miyares has formally petitioned the board to deny McGaha’s release. The controversy follows previous decisions by the board, appointed by Governor Abigail Spanberger, to grant parole to violent offenders, including Troy Demar, who was convicted of murder in 1998.
Victims have expressed significant fear regarding McGaha’s potential release. Additionally, reports indicate that a state investigation previously found McGaha should not be eligible for parole.
