Virginia State University releases song for suicide prevention

The Virginia State University Gospel Chorale has released a new single, ‘All We Need Is Love,’ featuring Bernard M. Walker and Arianne Pace Rhodes. The musical project serves as a vehicle for a suicide prevention campaign, developed in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention during National Suicide Prevention Month.

Producer James Baylor noted that the project’s development was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought increased isolation and a rise in suicide rates. The production faced additional emotional challenges when one of the project’s producers, Jared Hancock, passed away during the process. The initiative aims to raise awareness, provide resources, and support families affected by suicide-related trauma.
