Virginia State University student charged in campus shooting investigation

A Virginia State University student, Ja’niah Johnson, has been charged with misdemeanor accessory after the fact for allegedly helping a campus shooting suspect evade authorities. Police report that Johnson hid 19-year-old Camron Harris in a closet within her dorm room at Steward Hall following an early Saturday morning shooting on campus.

Harris, who is not enrolled at the university, faces multiple warrants including eight counts of malicious wounding and four counts of using a firearm during a felony. He is currently being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.

The shooting incident left five people hospitalized, including four men and one woman aged 17 to 21. While four victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, one victim remains in critical condition. Only one of the five victims is a VSU student.
