Virginia substitute teacher convicted of school murder spree threats
Hadyn James Dollery, a 19-year-old former non-licensed substitute teacher, has been convicted in Loudoun County, Virginia, on four counts related to threats of a “murder spree” at a local high school.
Prosecutors stated that on April 15, following a breakup with a boyfriend, Dollery sent messages via Discord threatening to kill the ex-partner, members of both families, and to carry out a murder spree at the ex-boyfriend’s school. The messages also included threats of cannibalism. The threats were reported through a school tip app, leading officials at John Champe High School and Eagle Ridge Middle School to increase security measures.
Evidence presented during the trial included a box cutter found in Dollery’s backpack and Google search history related to blood. Dollery was acquitted on one threat count. He faces up to 25 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for January 28.
