Virginia Tech football prepares for Old Dominion after dominant win over VMI
Virginia Tech football began the James Franklin era with a 73-3 victory over VMI. The Hokies' offense was highlighted by a strong rushing attack led by Jeff Overton Jr., who recorded 104 yards and a 50-yard touchdown, and Marcellous Hawkins, who scored three touchdowns.
The team's air attack also saw success, with transfer Que’Sean Brown recording 106 receiving yards and a 51-yard touchdown. Defensively, the Hokies were led by George Ballance with six tackles, while Cortez Harris and Aceyn Stevens each recorded a sack.
Virginia Tech now prepares to host Old Dominion at Lane Stadium. The Hokies aim to avenge a 45-26 loss to the Monarchs from the previous season. While Old Dominion has undergone roster changes, including the departure of key players to other programs, they remain a significant upcoming challenge for the Hokies as they seek a 2-0 start to the season.
