Virginia Tech prepares to face SMU as underdog
Virginia Tech (6-2, 3-2 ACC) is set to face SMU (6-2, 4-2 ACC) on Friday, Nov. 6, marking the first time the two programs have met since 1974. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN.
Following a recent upset where No. 19 SMU lost 30-27 to Syracuse, Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin noted that the Mustangs' offense appeared one-dimensional during the contest. Syracuse limited SMU to just 2.3 yards per rush, holding star running back Kendrick Raphael to 51 yards on 14 carries.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Virginia Tech enters the game as a 6.5-point underdog. The Hokies' season has included a 20-16 victory over Clemson, which secured bowl eligibility, as well as recent losses to Pitt and Cal.
