South Carolina football loses 41-34 to Mississippi State
South Carolina suffered a 41-34 home loss to Mississippi State at Williams-Brice Stadium, blowing a 16-point lead in the first half. The defeat marks the Gamecocks' sixth consecutive loss to SEC competition and seventh straight loss to Power Four opponents.
Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor led the Bulldogs' comeback, throwing four touchdowns and completing 18 of 26 passes for 251 yards. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers struggled in the second half, following an effective first half where he threw for 173 yards and one touchdown.
Following the game, South Carolina fans expressed frustration by chanting “Fire Beamer!” directed at head coach Shane Beamer. The loss brings the Gamecocks to a 2-1 record for the season as they prepare for a difficult upcoming schedule against teams including Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
