Virginia Woolf literary event scheduled at BLA in Fiorano Modenese
The BLA (Biblioteca, Ludoteca e Archivio storico) in Fiorano Modenese will host a literary event titled ‘Fear no more the heat of the sun: trauma and awareness of death in Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf’ on Thursday, October 22.
Curated by Carlotta Farese, an associate professor of English Literature at the University of Bologna, the session is part of the ‘In un’ora al Bla’ series. The 2026 edition, themed ‘The crisis that makes no noise,’ explores the works of Philip Roth, Franz Kafka, and Virginia Woolf to examine individual and collective fractures in society.
The discussion will focus on Woolf’s seminal Modernist novel, Mrs Dalloway, analyzing the lasting social and personal consequences of World War I. Key themes include trauma, the passage of time, aging, and the struggle for self-identity amidst social conditioning.
