Italian theater and cinema mourn deaths of Fabio Grossi and Virginio Gazzolo

The Italian entertainment community is mourning the deaths of two prominent figures in theater and cinema.

Fabio Grossi, a Roman actor, director, and playwright, has passed away at the age of 68. Grossi had a diverse career that spanned popular 1980s comedies, such as ‘I fichissimi’ and ‘Pierino contro tutti’, as well as more serious cinematic works like Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘L’amico di famiglia’. He was also a significant figure in theater, frequently collaborating with his longtime partner and stage companion, Leo Gullotta. The two had been together for over four decades and were civilly united in 2019.

Virginio Gazzolo, a highly respected actor and voice actor, has also passed away at the age of 89. Gazzolo was deeply connected to the Todi Festival, where he and his wife, actress Angela Cardile, played pivotal roles in its history. His career included founding the Teatro dei 101 and performing in notable television productions, such as Roberto Rossellini’s ‘L’età di Cosimo de’ Medici’. He was remembered for his dedication to the stage and his contributions to the cultural life of Monte Castello di Vibio.
