Viridis director Klaus Petersen honored at Top Master Engenharias 2026

Klaus Petersen, director of Viridis, was honored at the 17th Top Master Engenharias 2026 awards. The ceremony, held on September 18 at the Minas Tênis Clube in Belo Horizonte, was organized by the Metropolitan Institute of Engineering and Technology of Minas Gerais (IMET) in association with several academic institutions.

Petersen was recognized for his contributions to the mining sector, specifically regarding rare earth elements, which are considered strategic for global and Brazilian development. A geologist with over 35 years of experience, his career has spanned gold, iron, manganese, and critical minerals. He is currently involved in the development of the Colossus Project in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais.

His academic background includes degrees from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a post-doctorate from The University of Western Australia.
