Virovitica hosts 16th Lika Night celebrating regional traditions

The Vila Velebita Lika Association organized its 16th Lika Night in the Sveti Đurađ settlement of Virovitica on Friday, September 25. The event featured traditional music, dance, and customs, attended by Virovitica Mayor Ivica Kirin and representatives from various Lika associations across Croatia.

During the ceremony, Zlatko Pleša was introduced as the new president of the association, succeeding Željka Grahovac. Grahovac, who led the organization for 17 years since its founding at the suggestion of Mayor Kirin, received a certificate of appreciation for her service. Pleša emphasized the association's role in presenting Lika culture and its importance to the local community.

The program included performances by the male klapa group ‘Vila Velebita’, the KUD ‘Virovitica’ dance group, and musical entertainment by the group Štimung. The event concluded with a traditional Lika dinner.
