Virtual Biotech uses AI to advance drug discovery
Virtual Biotech, a California-based company, is utilizing an artificial intelligence system composed of 37,075 agents to advance the field of drug discovery. The system analyzes over 55,000 clinical trial results using large language models to identify molecular signals, which may increase the probability of drugs reaching the market by approximately 50%.
One specific project, led by James Zou from Stanford University, focuses on the CD276 protein as a target for lung cancer. The strategy involves developing an antibody combined with an anticancer drug to counter immune responses that weaken the body's ability to fight the cancer. While these findings are promising, they currently await validation through real-world clinical trials.
