Virtual Bundesliga launches 2026/27 season with new EA SPORTS FC mode

The WOW Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) is launching its 2026/27 season with an enhanced competitive program and a renewed focus on the EA SPORTS FC community. The season begins on October 15, 2026, with the VBL Club Championship by WOW, utilizing the established Showdown mode.

On October 28, 2026, the single-player competition will debut under a new name: the VBL Player Championship by WOW. This revamped competition replaces the former ‘VBL Open’ mode with a new in-game mode within EA SPORTS FC 27. This new format integrates with the popular Ultimate Team mode, allowing eligible players to compete directly for the German Championship.

Felix Rentschler, Head of Virtual Bundesliga, noted that the Bundesliga remains the only league globally to be represented within the game via its own dedicated mode, providing a unique pathway for players to participate in the VBL.
