Virtual K-pop idol Mumune releases solo debut

Mumune, a member of the virtual K-pop duo Wishes under Grim Production, has released her first solo single, "Orange Flare." The track, released on July 30, blends hyperpop with pop-punk and features driving guitar riffs and electronic textures.

Produced by songwriter INFX and Iris of MonoTree, the single marks Mumune's first venture into rock music and her first experience working with a live band. The song's theme is inspired by her signature color, orange, which she associates with her upbeat personality.

In a recent interview with The Korea Herald, conducted via Discord using a Live2D avatar, Mumune expressed a desire for virtual idols to be recognized primarily as musicians. She noted that the virtual format allows for significant creative freedom, particularly regarding visual styling and outfits.
