Virtuoso data shows luxury travel decoupling from broader market
Data presented at Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas indicates that the luxury travel sector is experiencing significant growth, effectively decoupling from the broader hospitality industry in a K-shaped economic trend.
While parts of the general travel market, particularly in the Mediterranean, have reported soft demand and missed forecasts, the high-end market is seeing growth levels reminiscent of the post-COVID period. Research shows that bookings with an Average Daily Rate (ADR) of $1,500 per night or higher have increased by 37% so far in 2026. This rate of growth is approximately twice as fast as bookings for lower-priced accommodations, suggesting that the spending ceiling is rising faster than the market floor.
