Virtuoso reports surge in luxury travel and autumn bookings
Luxury travel is experiencing a shift toward autumn travel in the northern hemisphere, characterized by longer, multi-city itineraries and increased spending. Data released during Virtuoso Travel Week indicates that sales are pacing toward a 21% year-on-year increase, with significant growth in the hotel and cruise sectors. Notably, bookings for hotels priced at $1,500 or more per night have risen by 37%.
Europe is a central driver of this trend, with autumn bookings up 49%. Travelers are increasingly adopting “city-maxxing” itineraries, frequently pairing destinations such as France and Italy, France and the UK, or Italy and Switzerland. There is also a growing trend toward wellness-focused properties and multigenerational family travel.
In recognition of industry excellence, the 38th annual Virtuoso Travel Week honored several leaders in hospitality. Mauna Lani, an Auberge Resorts Collection property in Hawaii, received the Best Brand Hotel award, while Etienne Petitpez of Airelles Palladio in Venice was named Hotelier of the Year.
