Virtus Entella: A history of the Chiavari football club

Virtus Entella, a football club based in Chiavari, has a history dating back to its founding in March 1914. The club saw periods of stability in Serie C during the 1960s before facing a significant decline in the late 1980s and early 2000s, which included the loss of its FIGC affiliation in 2001.

The club underwent a major transformation under the presidency of entrepreneur Antonio Gozzi. Following a name change in 2005, the team began a steady ascent through the Italian football pyramid, moving from Serie D in 2008 to the Lega Pro divisions. A notable achievement occurred during the 2013-14 season when the club won Girone A of the Lega Pro Prima Divisione under coach Luca Prina.
