On 4 August 2026, the city of Rijeka marked the national Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day with a large public program. A mimohod, led by the symbolic “Pobjednik 2026” banner, started at Trg 128 brigade of the Croatian Army, passed through the city and ended at the Bridge of Croatian Veterans, where a minute of silence was observed for fallen and missing defenders.

The ceremony featured the raising of the Croatian flag on the Kosi tower, a column of cyclists displaying national and military flags, and the participation of vessels from the Croatian Navy, police, port authority and customs. At the culmination, the local supporters association “Plavo‑bijeli otok” ignited 222 torches on the Krčki Bridge in tribute to the war dead from Primorje‑Gorski Kotar. Local officials, including deputy mayor Vedran Vivoda and deputy county prefect Toni Štimac, expressed gratitude to the veterans and called for the values of freedom to be passed to younger generations.
