BYD Vice President visits Bucharest amid European expansion plans

Stella Li, Vice President of the Chinese automotive giant BYD, is scheduled to visit Bucharest on October 30 for a series of strategic discussions. The visit comes as BYD evaluates its presence in the European market, driven by the need to establish local production units following new European Commission legislative changes and additional customs tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

While BYD has completed its first European factory in Szeged, Hungary, and has explored options in Turkey, Romania has emerged as a significant candidate for expansion. The country offers a developed automotive ecosystem, a skilled workforce, and an established network of local suppliers. BYD’s long-term strategy includes opening at least two new factories in Europe, with interest remaining high in Eastern Europe.
