Visa conducts AI agent commerce pilot in Poland
Visa has launched an agentic commerce pilot program in Poland to test how AI agents can browse, select, and initiate online purchases. The project involves a broad ecosystem of participants, including card issuers, fintechs, payment processors, and retailers.
During the pilot, AI agents acted on behalf of cardholders within specific parameters and instructions. All transactions were conducted in real-world retail environments rather than controlled test settings, with every purchase requiring explicit authorization from the consumer. Existing payment security mechanisms and issuer authentication controls remained unchanged throughout the process.
Key participants in the initiative include banks and fintechs such as Credit Agricole, mBank, Bank Millennium, Nest Bank, PKO Bank Polski, and PayPo. Payment agents involved include Autopay, Autopay Mobility, IdoSell, PayU, and Przelewy24, while retailers participating in the pilot include Empik, MegaDron, and Tortli.
