Visa expands digital payment solutions in Philippines and Malaysia
Visa has introduced new digital payment solutions in Southeast Asia, targeting both small businesses and individual consumers.
In the Philippines, Visa and USSC Money Services Inc. (UMSI) launched ‘U Accept’. This feature, integrated into the uGrow app, allows micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to transform compatible smartphones into contactless payment terminals. The initiative aims to reduce the need for expensive traditional point-of-sale hardware, lowering barriers for small businesses to accept card payments. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has expressed support for the launch as a means to accelerate digital payments.
In Malaysia, Samsung has expanded its Samsung Wallet support by adding MBSB Bank’s Visa Debit Card-i. This allows Galaxy users to make contactless payments via smartphones and wearable devices using tokenization technology for security. The integration is part of an ongoing effort to expand mobile payment options and digital essentials within the Samsung ecosystem.
