Visa launches Agentic Ready programme for AI commerce in Asia Pacific
Visa has launched its ‘Agentic Ready’ programme across the Asia Pacific region to prepare payment infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The initiative involves more than 50 banking and fintech partners across ten markets, aiming to facilitate autonomous agentic commerce where AI acts on behalf of shoppers.
While 74% of consumers in Asia Pacific currently use AI to browse and discover products, a significant trust gap remains regarding allowing agents to complete actual purchases. As the technology evolves, retailers face a shift in customer engagement; AI agents may prioritize brands based on efficiency and trust signals rather than traditional consumer brand loyalty.
