Visa named Principal Partner for Rugby World Cups in Australia

World Rugby has announced Visa as the Principal Partner and Official Payment Technology Partner for the upcoming Rugby World Cups in Australia. The agreement covers the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 and the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2029.

As part of the partnership, Visa will provide the payment technology framework at tournament venues and serve as the presenting partner for the Player of the Match award. Eligible Visa cardholders will receive a 48-hour priority window for ticket sales, beginning at 12:00 AEST on 28 September and ending on 30 September, ahead of the general sale on 1 October.

The 2027 Men’s tournament will feature an expanded field of 24 teams, held in Australia between 1 October and 13 November 2027. Michel Poussau, Chief Revenue Officer of World Rugby, stated that the partnership reflects the “strength and global appeal” of the tournaments and supports the growth of both men’s and women’s rugby.
