Visa partners with Brale on private stablecoin settlement pilot using Canton Network
Visa announced a collaboration with Brale, a regulated stablecoin issuance platform, to run a proof‑of‑concept that settles institutional payments with Brale’s USD‑backed SBC token on the permissioned Canton Network. The pilot focuses on enabling banks and market‑infrastructure providers to reconcile transactions while keeping sensitive data hidden from parties that do not need to see it.
The test builds on Visa’s earlier stablecoin settlement experiments, adding a privacy layer that restricts transaction visibility to only the involved participants and their regulators. Canton, developed by Digital Asset, offers configurable L1 privacy settings and eliminates the need for cross‑chain bridges. Visa’s head of crypto described the effort as part of its commitment to provide programmable, privacy‑preserving payments for institutional clients. The PoC remains in the technical evaluation stage with no timeline for broader deployment.
