Visa to acquire BioCatch for $2.4 billion

Visa has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire BioCatch, a leading provider of behavioral fraud intelligence, for $2.4 billion in cash. The acquisition price is nearly double the $1.3 billion valuation previously set by Permira.

BioCatch utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze thousands of behavioral, device, and network signals. By monitoring patterns such as keystrokes, touch gestures, and device-handling methods, the technology aims to distinguish legitimate users from fraudsters in real time. This approach is designed to detect account takeovers, digital fraud, and authorized-push-payment scams that traditional transaction monitoring may miss.

The integration of BioCatch’s capabilities is expected to bolster Visa’s existing security solutions against evolving cyber threats and digital fraud risks.
