Visakhapatnam employees block traffic during protest

Employees of the Swarna Grama and Swarna Ward Sachivalayam schemes staged a major protest in Visakhapatnam, blocking traffic near the RTC complex signal junction. The demonstration, which included a hunger strike, caused significant disruptions to bus and private vehicle movement.

The protesters are demanding several concessions, including career advancement through an automatic advancement scheme, the release of nine months of pay arrears, and the granting of annual increments. They are also seeking representation in the Joint Staff Council and the completion of compassionate appointments for families of deceased employees.

Visakhapatnam RDO Dileep Chakravrthy stated that the government must verify the demands before decisions are made. Union leaders have warned that the agitation will continue until the government takes concrete steps to resolve their grievances.
