Visakhapatnam student dies after alleged teacher assault

A six-year-old student, Pranay Teja, died on Thursday at Little Garden School in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, following an alleged physical assault by a teacher. The incident, which occurred in a UKG classroom, was captured on CCTV footage that has since gone viral.

The footage reportedly shows the teacher reprimanding the boy for incomplete homework, adjusting his uniform, and slapping him. Shortly after the incident, the child collapsed and was rushed to King George Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. While some reports suggest the child may have suffered cardiac arrest due to shock or fear, the exact medical cause of death is pending a post-mortem examination.

Family members have protested at the school and hospital, alleging the teacher used a stick and that the school management failed to notify them promptly. Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh has vowed legal action against the teacher and the school administration. The state government has also appointed a three-member committee, including the Regional Joint Director and District Education Officer, to conduct a formal inquiry into the tragedy.
