Visby celebrates UNESCO World Heritage status during Visbydagarna
The Hanseatic City of Visby, a UNESCO World Heritage site, will be celebrated during the Visbydagarna event from October 2–4. The festivities include an inauguration at Visby Cathedral and various community activities.
A special exhibition at the Gotland Museum will feature artwork by local primary and middle school students. The exhibition explores children's perspectives on the city, including what exists in Visby today, what is missing, and how the city might look in the future. This initiative aims to engage younger generations with the city's unique cultural heritage and its ongoing development.
During the event, several honorary titles will be awarded, including the World Heritage Ambassador of the Year and the World Heritage Product of the Year. The celebration is a collaborative effort involving the Visby Cathedral Parish, Visby Centrum, Region Gotland, and the Gotland Museum, with support from the County Administrative Board of Gotland.
