Visby medieval week fire injures performer during spontaneous show
A 30‑year‑old female entertainer was badly burned when a fire‑show she performed at Visby’s Medieval Week ignited unexpectedly. The incident occurred on Thursday night near Nordergravar. Emergency services arrived quickly; the performer was first taken to Visby Hospital and then air‑lifted to the burn unit at Akademiska sjukhuset in Uppsala, where her condition was reported as stable.
Medieval Week organiser’s communicator Simone Dufvander said the fire act was not part of the official programme and was performed spontaneously, adding that safety equipment was on site and responders acted swiftly. Police spokesperson Robert Sennerdal noted the event could be investigated as a workplace accident. A male bystander who intervened sustained only minor injuries. The organiser is gathering more information and has offered support services to those affected.
