Viseu Municipality opens scholarship applications for arts students

The Municipality of Viseu has opened applications for 20 scholarships to support students in music, dance, and theatre for the 2026/2027 academic year. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families and encourage young talent in the performing arts.

The scholarships are divided equally between two institutions: ten for the Conservatório Regional de Música de Viseu Dr. José de Azeredo Perdigão, covering musical training and ensemble classes, and ten for the Escola de Dança Lugar Presente, covering specialized dance and theatre courses. Each scholarship will last for 10 months.

Selection criteria for the Conservatory include socioeconomic status, academic performance, previous musical experience in associations, and residency or origin in the Viseu municipality within the last five years. For the Escola de Dança Lugar Presente, selection will be based on socioeconomic status, artistic potential, and local residency or origin. Applications are open until October 14, 2026, and can be submitted via email or in person at the municipal service desk.
