Viseu reopens former Orfeão building as cultural hub

The former Orfeão building on Rua Direita in Viseu has reopened as a cultural hub, serving as a space for creation, programming, and community engagement. The public opening took place on August 13 with the performance ‘Um Furo no Tempo’ by CEM Palcos, part of the CAVA collective.

The initiative is part of the municipal ‘Atelier Viseu’ strategy, aimed at revitalizing the historic center and Rua Direita. By hosting regular artists, workshops, and cultural events, the municipality intends to use culture as a tool for urban dynamism and community connection. More than 20 public activities, including theater, cinema, book launches, and lectures, are scheduled through the end of the year.
