Viseu to invest one million euros in municipal building modernization

During the celebrations of Municipality Day in Viseu, Mayor João Azevedo announced a planned investment of approximately one million euros to requalify and modernize the Paços do Concelho building. The project aims to improve conditions for both municipal employees and citizens. The municipality is preparing a candidacy for a government program to fund these improvements, with the intention of proceeding during the current mandate.

The announcement coincided with the 150th anniversary of the decision to establish the municipal headquarters in its current location. Silvério Regalado, the Secretary of State for Local Administration and Territorial Planning, attended the ceremony and confirmed a commitment to support the project, though a formal protocol is still pending.

In his address, Azevedo also highlighted Viseu’s focus on security, infrastructure, and economic development. He emphasized the importance of the municipal aerodrome and the regional wine industry as key drivers for the territory. The ceremony included honors and medals awarded to municipal employees and local figures recognized for their contributions to the history and culture of the municipality.
