Vishay Intertechnology launches RPWA 650 thick film power resistors

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the RPWA 650 series, a new family of thick film power resistors capable of delivering up to 650 W of continuous power in a low-profile package. Designed to reduce component count and footprint, the series is intended for use in automotive, industrial, energy, medical, and avionics power stages.

The resistors feature a baseplate design that facilitates efficient heat transfer to an external heatsink, supporting an operating temperature range from -55 °C to +155 °C. Technical specifications include a resistance range from 6.2 Ω to 1 MΩ, a maximum operating voltage of 6000 VDC, and typical self-inductance of ≤ 40 nH. The series also offers an optional embedded NTC temperature sensor within the same housing and a self-calibrating pressure interface that eliminates the need for board-level soldering.

Target applications include power conversion, precharge, discharge, active discharge, and snubber circuits. The RPWA 650 series is RoHS compliant and is currently pending AEC-Q200 qualification.
