Vishay Intertechnology launches universal IR receiver series

Vishay Intertechnology announced the TSOP15300 series of infrared (IR) receiver modules. The devices accept a wide modulation frequency range of 30‑68 kHz, allowing them to receive and demodulate all major remote‑control codes with a single component. This reduces component counts, board space and system cost for consumer‑electronics designs.

The receivers are targeted at televisions, audio systems, gaming consoles, soundbars, set‑top boxes and video projectors. They provide immunity to ripple noise from CFL and LCD IR emissions and to RF interference from onboard Wi‑Fi antennas. Housed in a 4‑pin Heimdall package, each module integrates a photodetector, pre‑amplifier and IR filter, operates from 2.0 V to 5.5 V, draws about 0.35 mA, and can transmit up to 18 m when paired with a 50 mA emitter. The products are RoHS‑compliant and marketed as Vishay Green. Samples and volume production are available with a six‑week lead time. Following the announcement, Vishay’s share price rose roughly 8 % on the news.
