Vishay introduces XClampR bidirectional flat clamping TVS devices

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the XFD11KxxCA series, a new line of bidirectional XClampR flat clamping transient voltage suppressors (TVS) in surface-mount DO-218AC packages. These devices are designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients caused by lightning or inductive load switching.

The series features peak pulse power dissipation of 11 kW at 10/1000 μs, comparable to conventional TVS, while maintaining a low clamping ratio (VC/VBR) near 1.0. This allows for higher power density and the use of lower-voltage downstream components, such as MOSFETs and capacitors, which can reduce system costs and voltage overshoot.

Available in both commercial-grade and AEC-Q101 qualified versions, the 15-device range supports 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V automotive system powertrains. The components operate across a wide temperature range of -55 °C to +175 °C and are intended for automotive applications including ADAS, autonomous driving control units, on-board chargers, and battery management systems.
