The film Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri and starring Suriya, is facing significant criticism on social media following its streaming debut on Netflix on September 11. Although the movie was a commercial success during its theatrical run starting August 14, the transition to digital audiences has resulted in mixed to negative responses.

Viewers have criticized several emotional sequences, labeling them as artificial or plastic. Specific points of contention include a death scene involving the character Radhika and the character development of the stepmother.

Some netizens have compared the film to the recent hit Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, directed by Girish AD. Critics of Vishwanath and Sons suggest that while Atluri attempted to build emotion through complex plot layers—including surrogacy and rare diseases—the film lacked the simplicity and subtlety found in Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
