Vision care initiatives expand support for underserved communities in Taiwan

Various charitable initiatives are expanding vision care services for underserved populations in Taiwan. In Keelung, University Optical Technology Co., Ltd. has donated 700 optical vouchers to the Keelung City Government. These vouchers, which cover basic frames and lenses, are intended for low-income families to alleviate financial burdens related to vision needs.

In Yilan, Rotary International is spearheading the ‘OK to be better’ project to support remote areas. The initiative includes the donation of AI-powered fundus cameras and new refraction machines to improve screening efficiency. The program targets students in Sanxing and Datong townships for vision checks and eyewear services, while also extending care to local diabetic patients to assist in the early detection of diabetic retinopathy.
