Oscar Onley ruled out of 2026 Tour de France after shoulder injury

British rider Oscar Onley suffered a significant shoulder injury when he crashed on the descent of stage 6 of the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes. Medical tests confirmed a dislocated shoulder and a knee injury, forcing him to withdraw from the race and confirming he will miss the 2026 Tour de France, which starts on 4 July in Barcelona and finishes in Paris. Onley said, “I’m gutted not to be able to line up for the Tour de France this year,” and added that his focus is now on recovery.

Netcompany‑Ineos confirmed the setback, noting that Onley’s absence further weakens a squad already dealing with other injuries, such as teammate Josh Tarling’s fractured collarbone. The team will have to adjust its line‑up and may look to other riders for leadership later in the season.

Separately, Visma‑Lease a Bike announced its Tour de France roster after Wout van Aert was ruled out by an infection. The squad will be supported by North American domestiques Sepp Kuss and Matteo Jorgenson, alongside other riders such as Victor Campenaerts and Davide Piganzoli, to back champion Jonas Vingegaard in his bid to repeat his victories.
