Vismaya Mohanlal Stands by Protest Support as Backlash Grows

Vismaya Mohanlal, daughter of Indian film star Mohanlal, reiterated her support for students protesting an alleged leak of the NEET entrance‑exam paper. In an interview she said she has no regrets, emphasizing that democracy allows citizens to question authority and that dialogue should replace force, adding she would maintain the same stance regardless of which party is in power.

Her comments sparked a wave of online criticism and cyber‑attacks, prompting other Indian actors such as Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali to also face backlash. Director Major Ravi publicly defended her, describing her remarks as humanitarian rather than political. Vismaya is also preparing to debut as an actress in the film “Thudakkam,” scheduled for release on 7 August.
