Vita Dairy milk recalled in Kosovo over aflatoxin contamination

The Kosovo Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Land UHT 3.2% milk from the market. The recall follows the detection of excessive aflatoxin M1 levels in the product, produced by Vita Dairy and operated by ABRAZEN L. L. C.

North Macedonian authorities intercepted two shipments of the milk, totaling 27,520 kilograms, at the Blace border crossing. The shipments were intended for retail supermarkets in North Macedonia. Following laboratory confirmation of the safety violation, the entire quantity was destroyed at the Drisla landfill under the supervision of an official veterinarian.

The AUV has launched a traceability investigation to determine the distribution of the affected product within Kosovo. These measures were taken in accordance with Kosovo's Food Law, which classifies food containing mycotoxins above permitted limits as unsafe for human consumption.
