Vitali Iankovski appears in Tiraspol despite Moldova ban
Moldovan Vice‑Premier for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri said he does not know how Vitali Iankovski, the head of South Ossetia’s representation in the Transnistrian region, managed to reach Tiraspol. Iankovski was declared undesirable in the Republic of Moldova in February 2026 and barred from entry for five years.
Despite the ban, Iankovski took part in propaganda rallies organised by the separatist administration in Tiraspol on the 34th anniversary of the peace‑keeping operation on the Dniester. Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi also addressed the issue, noting the contradiction between the travel restriction and Iankovski’s presence in the breakaway region.
