Vitalik Buterin rejects claims that AI could crash Bitcoin
Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has dismissed claims that artificial intelligence poses a significant threat to Bitcoin's value. The discussion arose following comments by Liron Shapira, who suggested that AI could undermine the network security protections that cryptocurrency holders rely on, potentially causing Bitcoin to lose more than half its value within two years.
Buterin expressed optimism regarding long-term cybersecurity. He noted that while transitions can be difficult, the Bitcoin network is capable of responding to threats through client updates and mining group actions without requiring total community consensus. He further estimated that the probability of critical vulnerabilities appearing in the Proof-of-Work protocol or hash functions is nearly zero.
