Vitamin and micronutrient deficiencies linked to seasonal fatigue and immunity

As the colder season approaches, health professionals are advising individuals to monitor vitamin and micronutrient levels to combat fatigue, irritability, and mood swings. Dr. Ieva Rainienė from the Meliva Family Clinic notes that autumn is an ideal time to assess nutritional status before the peak viral infection season.

Common deficiencies identified include Vitamin D, B-group vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B9, B12), iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, and selenium. Deficiencies in B vitamins can impact the nervous system, potentially leading to memory issues or increased risks of neurodegenerative diseases, while low Vitamin D levels are linked to weakened immunity and respiratory infections. Iron deficiency is also cited as a primary cause of chronic fatigue and hair loss.
